Large impressive original antique oil painting on board signed by eminent Australian 19th Century artist John F Norton. Beautiful traditional bush landscape artwork depicting a peaceful, sun-drenched pastoral scene with weathered Australian gum trees with spreading branches over a small herd of cattle grazing. The artwork is presented in a highly ornate gilded Art Nouveau frame featuring embossed scrolling vine and leaf motifs (signs of age to frame, however does not detract).

John F Norton (b1861) was a prolific late 19th and early 20th century Australian painter of landscapes in Victoria, New South Wales and New Zealand, capturing the settler era known for his classic Australian bush realism influenced by the Heidelberg School.
