Original framed 1969 drawing with coloured ink wash entitled “Men with Floral Trousers”, by known Australian professional artist Jane Stapleford. Striking work, heavily decorated with intricate floral and botanical patterns, capturing a delicate, fantasy-inspired aesthetic. Particularly desirable and rare artwork from the early phase of the artist’s career. Presented in the original solid wood gilt exhibition frame with custom mount behind glass.

Jane Stapleford (working 1967-2020) Australian postwar and contemporary artist best known for her distinctive style as a wildlife and fantasy artist. Her artwork merges precise technical skills with deeply soulful, often mystical interpretations of the natural world. Her works during the late 1960s and early 1970s explored kaleidoscope-like botanical, fabric, and animal fur motifs. These rarely offered artworks are quite sought after. Although very much an individual in her work, she occasionally accepted commissions during this time from such institutions as the Prime Minister’s Office, several Japanese Corporations and the American Ambassador in Canberra.
