1909 Norman Lindsay lithograph, "Satyrs and Sunlight”, framed antique art

Rare limited edition lithographic illustration on vellum from the 1909 deluxe edition of Satyrs & Sunlight: Silvarum Libri, a collected poetry volume written by Hugh McCrae and richly illustrated by Norman Lindsay, printed in Sydney, Australia, by John Sands Ltd. Wonderful historic example of Lindsay’s early work, entitled “After the Chase” and signed within the plate. Only 130 copies were printed worldwide with this particular artwork from number 30.

Presented in a solid gilt wood frame with custom double mount behind glass. Provenance on the reverse.

Norman Lindsay (1879–1969) was a prolific and controversial Australian artist, author, and illustrator known for his immense creative output, including paintings, etchings, and sculptures. Famous for his detailed pen-and-ink drawings, "The Magic Pudding" children's book, and scandalous, sensual nudes, he was a dominant, often polarizing figure in Australian art for over 50 years.
