About the Artist
Jules-Alexis Muenier (1863–1942) was a celebrated French painter associated with the Realist tradition, renowned for his beautifully observed scenes of everyday life and domestic interiors. He studied at the prestigious École des Beaux-Arts in Paris under Jean-Léon Gérôme and began exhibiting at the Paris Salon in 1887. His paintings are admired for their naturalistic detail, sensitive portrayal of human relationships and masterful use of light. Muenier received the prestigious Légion d’honneur in 1895 and was elected to the Académie des Beaux-Arts in 1921.
