About the Artist
Lloyd Rees (1895–1988) was one of Australia’s most celebrated landscape painters, draughtsmen and printmakers, renowned for his masterful exploration of light, atmosphere and the natural environment. Born in Brisbane, Rees enjoyed an artistic career spanning more than seven decades and was twice awarded the prestigious Wynne Prize. His work is represented in major Australian public collections, including the National Gallery of Victoria and the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
