"Cecilia May Gibbs (1877-1969) was a prominent Australian children's author and illustrator. She is best known for creating the iconic "gumnut babies" (also known as "bush babies" or "bush fairies") and for her popular book Snugglepot and Cuddlepie. She was a pioneering figure in Australian children's literature, developing a uniquely Australian vernacular and becoming the country's first full-time, professionally trained children's book author and illustrator."
