Original 1960s mid century watercolour ‘plein aire’ painting, painted on-location to capture the natural light and atmosphere, by known Australian artist Dermott Hellier. The scene features a serene river flowing past sandy banks, with a small house nestled among lush green trees and a prominent cliff or mountain in the background. Framed with matte black coated solid vintage beveled wood with custom mount behind glass.

Dermont Hellier (1916-2006) is a well respected traditional Australian artist. At the age of 9 years he studied under the Scottish artist Sarah Kyle, and later studied at the NGV school with Thomas Wheeler and Septimus Power. During WW2 he was an official war artist, serving in Australia and New Guinea.
