MAEKAWA SEMPAN: (1888-1960) Graduated from the Kansai Art Academy and was self-taught in print-making. Sempan made his living mostly as a successful illustrator but in his later years was able to devote more time to prints. His principal interests were people, prints, and visiting hot-spring resorts and folk festivals, probably in that order.
