1907 Antique print after Danby’s painting, Irish, gilt framed vintage landscape

Antique artwork printed in 1907 after a famous painting titled “Liensfiord Lake, Norway”, created by the Irish Romantic painter Francis Danby in 1841. The piece reflects the dark, dramatic, and sublime aesthetic typical of British Romantic landscape art. Danby visited Norway in 1825 and was deeply moved by its stark, untamed geography. Neely framed with ornate gilt behind glass.

Francis Danby ARA (1793 - 1861) was an Irish painter of the Romantic era. Best known for his vivid and dramatic landscape paintings, his work often drew comparisons to that of John Martin. From around 1818/1819, Danby became involved with an informal circle of artists later recognised as the Bristol School.
