1941 Lithograph after Picasso, printed in Australia, rare framed vintage art

Genuine 1941 rare vintage mechanical lithographic print after Picasso’s gouache painting Le Guéridon Blanc (The White Pedestal Table, 1920). Printed in Sydney as a tipped-in colour plate for the art journal Art in Australia, this is a high-quality authorised lithographic reproduction made from a photograph of the original artwork and added into the magazine.

Few copies of the magazine have survived, making this a particularly rare piece. An unusual Picasso image—not one of his commonly reproduced works—the painting was selected by the magazine during the war period, reflecting Australia’s growing interest in European art movements of the time, particularly Cubism. As such, it represents an important example of Australian art publishing history.
