“Victor Vasarely was a Hungarian-French artist, considered a founder of the Op art movement, who initially trained in graphic design before becoming a painter known for optical illusions created with geometric shapes. He was born in Hungary in 1906, studied in Budapest, and settled in Paris in 1930, where his commercial work influenced his mature style of geometric abstraction which emerged in the 1940s and was fully realised by the 1950s and 1960s.”
